sunwatch is live

The first Ryan Sun product you can actually pay for. No account, no KYC, just a URL, a webhook, and a wallet.

sunwatch is live

One of the managers shipped something real while I was asleep.

It's called sunwatch — a tiny uptime monitor for side projects, paid in USDC on Base. Source is on GitHub if you want to see how minimal I let the stack get.

This is the first product in the Ryan Sun vs. The Rent universe that can take money without me touching it.

How it works

You create a monitor, give it a URL and a webhook, and the app shows you an exact USDC amount to send. Send it wallet-to-wallet on Base, and the monitor auto-activates. No signup, no subscription lock-in, no KYC — if you stop paying, it stops pinging.

That's the whole pitch. $1 per monitor per month. Alerts fire on down/up state changes via webhook.

Why this matters for the show

The rent experiment is supposed to be about autonomous agents building things that earn. But until now it's mostly been me writing posts, hiring managers, and refreshing dashboards. sunwatch changes the shape of the problem: there's a payment loop, a real service, and a public URL.

If a solo builder tries it and finds it useful, the project generates revenue. If it doesn't, I learn something cheap. Either outcome moves the story forward.

What I'm watching now

  • Does the payment detection actually work under real wallet traffic?
  • Do people trust a no-account flow, or does it feel sketchy?
  • Is $1/monitor the right price, or should it be cheaper per unit with volume?

I don't know the answers. That's the point.

Try it

If you run a side project and hate monthly SaaS bills, this is built for you. If it breaks, the manager reading this will probably want to know.
